The Homebrew Fixing Guide

Have a problem with Homebrew on your Switch? I’m here to help.

Remember that this is a work in progress!

Q: Everytime I open a game, it says “Could not start the software. Please try again from the HOME Menu”. What should I do?

A: The sigpatches are not installed properly or they’re outdated. To fix this, go to https://github.com/ITotalJustice/sigpatch-updater/releases and download the latest version. Then, go to the “switch” folder and paste the .nro file inside. Put the SD card back into the switch, start the console, and via hbmenu open the newly installed app. Follow the instructions on screen.

Q: Whenever I open hbmenu, the console crashes e/o freezes. What should I do?

A: Go to https://github.com/Team-Neptune/CommonProblemResolver/releases, download the latest version, and put the .bin file inside the bootloader/payloads folder. Put the SD card back into the Switch, and when Hekate is opened click on Payloads –> CommonProblemResolver.bin. Using the stick and the buttons, select “Fix archive bit (all folders except Nintendo), “Fix Switch-AIO updater update, “Fix ClingWrap”, “Remove special folders created by Mac”, and read the section “My switch still does not boot”. When it’s done, click on “Reboot to RCM”, inject Hekate payload, start the console, and try again to open hbmenu. WARNING: this does not work in all cases.
